Northeast Region Area 1 Venturing Officer's Association
The Northeast Region Area 1 Venturing Officers' Association (AVOA) consists of an Area VOA President, Area VOA Vice President of Administration, Area VOA Vice President of Program, Area VOA Vice President of Communication, and their Respective Advisors.
President
Sophia Caldwell
Sophia Caldwell is a founding member of North Andover’s Venturing Crew 87 based out of the Spirit of Adventure Council. She joined Venturing at the age of 16 and is currently the President of her crew. Sophia has earned her Venturer Award and is currently working on her Discovery Award. She has also been elected Crew Leader for her upcoming Philmont Trek. She loves hiking and spending time outdoors. Sophia staffed NYLT this past April and completed PowderHorn Training this past October. This fall, she will be attending the University of Vermont, majoring in Environmental Studies. Sophia is excited to bring the Crews and Councils of Area 1 closer together and hopes to increase the accessibility of training and information for crews in the Area.
Vice President of Administration
Angelica Tyson
Angelica Tyson is a founding member of her crew and most recently served as the President of Crew 4487, in Portsmouth RI, based out of Narragansett Council. She has earned her Discovery Award and is actively working towards her Pathfinder Award. Angelica will be staffing NYLT as an ASPL this coming June. This past weekend, she went through her ordeal successfully and plans to be an active member of the Order of the Arrow. This fall Angie will be attending Finger Lakes Community College, with plans to transfer to Utica College to major in Criminal Justice. Angelica's main goals for the term include: creating more dialogue between the Venturing program and councils, helping venturing crews with programming resources, and overall prompting Venturing as a whole!
Vice President of Program
Gray Yao
Gray Yao is from Crew 7 out of Chelmsford, MA in The Spirit of Adventure Council. He has been an official member of his crew since age 14, and most recently served as the president of his crew. Gray has earned his Discovery award and is actively working towards his Pathfinder Award. This fall, he will be a senior in high school at Westford Academy in Westford, Massachusetts. Additionally, he has completed NYLT and the Kodiak Challenge. Gray enjoys camping and making music. Gray hopes to continue improving Area events, offering trainings, and help facilitate inter-crew connections.
Vice President of Communication
Natalie Harriman
Natalie Harriman is a member of the Kingston, New Hampshire Crew 345 based out of The Spirit of Adventure Council. Natalie joined Venturing at the age of 15 and was most recently the President of crew 345. Natalie has earned her Discovery Award and is actively working on her Pathfinder Award. Recently, she was elected as a candidate of the Order of the Arrow. Natalie has staffed her council’s four past NYLT courses and completed PowderHorn Training this past fall. This fall, Natalie will be attending Northern Vermont University on their Johnson campus, majoring in outdoor education. Her main goal for her term is to get Venturers more involved in big trainings such as NYLT, NAYLE, and PowderHorn while keeping the communications strong within the Area and the Area 1 councils.
